Hike number three on walking the Wainwrights in 36 walks.

Overcast day, but some amazing panoramic views and 4 more Wainwrights ticked off the list.

Family day out today, me Jo and Bali hitting the trails.

I’d actually recommend using my GPX file for this one, some of the ones I found online didn’t make sense to me and looked like they added loads of unnecessary kms.

As always though, do your research kiddas.

Route Overview

A nice steady route.

Some steep descent towards the end, but then a nice flat walk back for the last few kms past some really cool little farms.

Starts off with free parking near The Lancrigg which is a very nice looking hotel, accessed via a few winding narrow country lanes, just down the road from Grasmere centre.

The first few kms ascends with zig-zags giving great views looking back at the villages below.

Helm Crag is the first Wainwright on the day, worth a little climb, has a ragged jutting out summit with a belter little backdrop.

4 Wainwrights ticked off on this one.
