Grasmere To The Langdale Pikes: 10 Wainwrights

Hike number 5 on walking the wainwrights in 36 walks included another 10 Wainwrights, unfortunately we only got 9, but a belter number to tick off the main list.

This was my first proper hike in 6 months and was going to be a warm up to get the legs fired up again for the upcoming country high point trip to Greece & Bulgaria.

Tom joined me on this one and having already done the Langdale Pikes many times before, was the chief navigator for the day.

GPX file is below, you can see on the map the little detour we took to skip Silver How, it was worth it in the end as we were against the clock and were ready to call it a day. Legs were on fire at this point. It was good to be back.

Grasmere To The Langdale Pikes

Route Overview

Parking anywhere in the cute little village of Grasmere is fine for this one, loads of pubs, cafes and shops for a browse or a pint afterwards as well if you’ve not been to Grasmere before.

Great return to the hills, a long and steady day with plenty of ups and downs, we did this anti clockwise in the end which allows for the majority of the high elevation gain earlier on when you’ve still got your bacon buttie energy flying through you.

The Langdale Pikes of Pavey Ark, Loft Crag, Pike of Stickle and Harrison Stickle are done by many just on their own, but we’re all about bagging as many peaks as we can on these days out.
