Country High Point #5 – Belgium – Signal De Botrange (694m)

Country high point 5 was Belgium, known for its medieval towns, waffles, chocolate and massively under performing national football team. The country’s highest point, Signal de Botrange, hits 694 meters (2,277 feet) and is located in the High Fens (Hautes Fagnes) nature reserve in the province of Liège. 

To make the summit feel more mountainous, a stone tower was built to get it to a nice round 700 metres. 

It was weird because it was basically a stone staircase in a carpark with a restaurant next to it, we did stop there and grab a coffee break which was great.

Again, not much on the hiking data front, you drive straight to the car park and climb the stairs for a quick snap, we didn’t explore much round here but there were some trails with people heading to and from dog walks.

Little tip as well, don’t use the Google Maps for ‘Signal De Botrange’ – it tooks us a few minutes away to some random side road, which must have backed on to where the countryside area starts.
