Alright there people!

I’m Danny, born and raised in Liverpool, in the North West of England.

I’ve been working in IT for 15 years, but don’t let that fool you, some of us don’t live in the basement nailing packets of M&Ms all day and naming our keyboards after Victorian Mathmaticians. I like to go outside.

Living in Liverpool means I’m just a short drive away from the Lake District, the Peak District, and Eryri National Park (Snowdonia). From completing numerous Wainwrights, cycling in the Peaks, and my first ascent of Snowdon at 14, I’ve always loved the outdoors and wanted a place to log my adventures, whether they end with a reflecting chilled evening on the couch watching the footy with a few beers, or drenched through with chaffing thighs on the drive home.

I love travelling, exploring new countries, cultures, and places as much as my annual leave and wallet allow. In recent years, I’ve ramped up my hiking game, making every effort to get out across the UK and ensuring my holidays include some fun and getting a sweat on in the mountains.

You’ll usually find me on trips with my partner Jo and our Cocker Spaniel Bali, with mates, or even solo hiking, which is amazing for switching off, not having to speak to anyone else pretty much the whole day and peacefully enjoying the views.

My favourite hikes so far have been in the UK, Norway, Canada and Switzerland. Unreal destinations.

I created this blog to connect with others, share my experiences and to challenge myself. Gotta keep them legs ticking over before you’re out of breath walking to the fridge.

I’m aiming to reach as many country high points as I can, complete various challenges such as hitting the top of all 214 Wainwrights, and improve my skills as I transition from hiking to mountaineering. I’ve recently learnt how to tie some knots, so I’m now ready for K2.

Have a look at my World High Point and Challenge pages to see my progress (only if you want like, no dramas) I’m hoping to add some form of logging your own peaks to the website over time, so make sure to sign up to the newsletter to keep up to date on what’s going on.

Feel free to drop me an email at danny@hikingtheearth.com. I always love hearing about other people’s trips and adventures.

All the best,

Danny
